gullibly twenty

twenty is weird. it states clearly scientifically, mathematically that you are NOT a teenager anymore. but I do not feel any difference despite the clear concise scientific description. 20.

my birthday week was OK. Had the first party of the apartment though,.... 30 people came to my house for the bbq. it was a really good turn out. the downside was jsut that I was too busy cooking and serving food and making sure that everybody's happy and fed that I do not get to talk to anybody and actually have fun. that sucks. I swear i'll never do it again. next time i should just go to a restaurant.

I just got back from my Earth and Planetary Science class' camping trip to the Sierra. The theme was the gold mining period. We visited sutter mile, this really cool gold mine at the mother lode (3- 4 hours away from berkeley) . We rode the 'mining' car down the mine. And these mines were huge. It is as wide as 1.5x of a fire truck. The guide was describing to us how the candle was the only source of light in the 1850s during the gold rush. The rock was so goddamn tough that it takes one strong strong man 5 hours to make a hole with a hammer and a huge nail around 3-5 inches thick. they put explosives inside and ran out.

What was really sad was that 300 000 native americans were killed because they were inhabiting the area prior to the digging. the white settles drove them away, and when the natives resisted, they were killed. Besides they do not have any genetic resistance whatsoever to the diseases that the europeans bring. the europeans used to take a sick man and rub a blanket all over the body to catch the virus in the blanket then give the blanket to indians. They were wiped out within that 10 years of greed. Amazing.

I went to a cemetary too where a LOT of people from all over the world (Italy, Ireland, Russia, England, Spain) were burried. It was a very pristine cemetary. one funny thing was there was a tombstone that said "John F Gianini, assassinated by a chinamen". It was soooo politically incorrect it was amazing.

then we went to this western town that was left exactly like it was in the 1900s. it was like a cowboy town.

Oh i went to this trip with 2 other people, prof brimhall, jenn and matt the logistics guy. there were only like 6 of us.

we went to a bar too.

cooking was fun, at pulau ubin camping was amazingly hard, we had to pitch our own tents with tarps and sticks. but here, we used a very practical tent that you can pitch in 3-5 mins it was amazing. This camping trip was luxurious too, we brought a stove, had burrito in the middle of nowhere. it was great.

The next day we went to the big chasm, its a limestone cave that was sooo amazing. i loved it.

got home and it started raining. good thing it wasn't raining while we were there though cos it'd have been cold. I was freezing through the night.

have to continue my job hunt.

i'm sleep deprived. damn the daylight saving time!
